Yak is intended for broadcasters who wish to record and broadcast telephone conversations without the need for costly telephone balance (hybrid) units.

Using the popular SIP protocol, Yak allows you to make, receive and stack calls ready for broadcast - at a glance, you can easily determine who has been waiting the longest, how many times they've called and other details about them.  A simple audio recorder and waveform editor (with auto-trim and normalize) is built-in allowing for fast turnaround of phone-ins during busy programmes.

To receive incoming calls from landlines and mobiles, you will need a SIP account with a provider who can offer you a landline number.  I use Sipgate who offer geographical and lo-call rate numbers.  You can also run Yak with your own SIP server (such as 3CX) and either have your own telephone system or use it as a routing system to a third-party POTS>SIP provider.

Features

  • Touchscreen-compatible telephone system

  • Uses the SIP protocol

  • Can record, edit and play calls

  • Displays information about your callers

  • Visual-Talkback with other Yak workstations

Requirements

  • Windows 2000, XP or Vista

If your are using a mixing console, you will need to provide a clean-feed to your soundcard's line input.

Whether you're a home-broadcaster or community station - Yak is a valuable tool for production and broadcasting: Not only can you save money on expensive telephone hybrids, but you can handle your telephone calls from ONE program... Answer>Record>Edit>Broadcast - it's that simple!
